When night falls, a prophet roams the streets
And all who hear his voice close their doors, shutter their windows—
Barricade against the call to arms
The challenge of a mind that sees beyond the wall.
Leave out your harvest to be taken by the dead
An offering against the world waiting at the gate
Drive it back at gunpoint, knife edge
And one day the prophet will go out to join them
In preparation to lay siege against the forsaken.
Behind the windows along the dark and silent road
Some hands are reaching out, hesitant
Almost ready to open their doors, let in the night
And walk out into the waking world
Bathed in moonlight like liquid ivory
Nearly given way to the power of the prophet’s voice
But sleep can be persuasive
And darkness is a comfort they’ve always known

Lots of pessimism out and about these days. Whether its justified or not, let’s ignore it for a bit. What are you happy about? What good things are on your mind? What are you hopeful about?

Beautifully written as always my friend. Stunning imagery. I am thankful for the roof over my head, the food we have to eat and our senses. I am grateful and happy that Jesus loves me and that I have love in my life. Love 💕 Joni

The sun rose this morning with beautiful hues of pink, purple and orange and stretched across the entire East side of my house. I am hopeful that I’ll be able to see it sinking in the West this evening watching over fields dotted with hay bales. I’m grateful for the opportunities that come everyday to see the beautiful miracles happening all around me, the unforgettable hugs from my children that warm my heart and their smiles that ignite my soul with the fire and passion to get them to bed to so I can have a quiet moment at the end of each day 🙂

Less than an hour’s drive from us is Mt Laguna in the Cleveland National Forest. A few times a year we camp out there, away from the hustle and bustle of the city and its technology. It’s our special appreciation time of what’s left in the more protected nature, as well as an inspiration to my own imagination in writing and artwork.
