Out to the stars goes the last of the dreamers
slave to the will of infinity
drawn out to the extremities
witness to the breath of creation
eyes on horror in the graveyard of stars
and only glimpses of the lives that came before
The siren call across an inkwell night
promises bliss at the end of insanity
and so the slow crawl in search of it
through void where screams are silent
and windows open onto memory
of that night filled with last words
spoken like they meant something
and in the end only rain against an ocean
lost in the cold spaces between stars

I thought few ice cream flavors could beat Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked… then I found out about the peanut butter version. Although Strawberry Cheesecake is probably still on top for me.

David I think for me anyway this is one of my favorite poems you have written. It is beautiful. “The siren call across an inkwell night
promises bliss at the end of insanity
and so the slow crawl in search of it
through void where screams are silent” I wonder what music you were listening to when you wrote this? It is truly beautiful. I too, love Ben and Jerry’s. In fact I made a German Chocolate Cake with Pecan frosting two weeks ago and my husband and I consumed it in two days, and it was a two layer cake dripping in frosting. I have gained three pounds which is a lot for me. I am finding hard to not indulge my sweet tooth during these days. In fact I might just have some ice cream tonight. Love and hugs and great writing David. Joni

Thank you Joni!! I wrote this one on the roof of my apartment building, listening to the sounds of the city. Is agree, it’s hard to think about eating healthy right now. I also have lots of cravings for sugary things. I suppose we should take our comforts however we can get them—the weight can come off after lockdown is over!

What a cool way to write. When I was young I had a place with my sister where I could sit out on the roof and I loved it. You really write some amazing poems David. Your work is admirable my friend. I am sure my four pounds will come off quickly once we get back to normal. I am with you I am going to walk and continue to enjoy my sweets. Love, safety and blessings. Joni

Much appreciated, thank you! Sometimes I get lucky and stumble across the perfect photo right away, other times it takes forever to find one.

An aching lament to loss, of love, or self. The vastness of the cosmos holds infinite inspiration. Great job.
Any flavor is great as long as it’s chocolate and/or coffee!

Thanks Tim! And thank you for your emails. I haven’t responded yet, I’m following your advice and trying not to think about the story for a week or so. I’m eager to dive deep into your thoughts on it. Cheers! (:
