A Voice Softly Calling

This is the emptiness that brings absolution

the long-sought silence

the deep breath before a blind leap

into hope for some waning light

to show the way out before the fall is over

And then when that voice comes softly calling

it’s worse than could ever be imagined

and the way forward is blackest midnight

blind groping in the dark that eats away at souls

as the soft voice turns to screaming

and just when going back is no longer an option

the lights are turned on

I’m going to be pretty much off the grid for the next few days. Will likely not be posting or reading anything. I’ll have to catch up once I get back, but in the meantime everyone stay safe!

    • Thank you! Yes, things seem to be heading back towards lockdown, but I’m not at all surprised with how many folks have been out and about like normal. I get that people wanted to enjoy the beginning of summer, it seems we’ll pay the price now.

      • I know it is kind of sad that people are not taking this more seriously. I am not a young girl anymore and also have an autoimmune disorder so I am taking it very seriously. I know when I was young I thought I was invincible.

I always look forward to reading your work David. I suppose we have our work to be grateful for as a distraction and my writing brings me joy.

Please stay well and blessings to you and all your loved ones. ❤️💕Joni
