Glass Door

The words all laid out on the table

magic spells and treasure maps

scratched out by invisible hands

grasping at the very edges of shimmering light

warped and cracking, seeping through

to a room left unguarded

with only a glass door to keep out the light

and walls where the captives counted days

as scratch marks on their souls,

their eyes bleeding the same light

Blinded, afraid to reach out to the door

for fear of finding it unlocked
