Perpetual Dawn

This story begins and ends in a place of long shadows

cast against a high wall stained with fresh blood

the markings of some new language

spoken by mouths sewn shut, voices trapped

words of a night beyond darkness and decay

The rest walk in halls unspoiled

pure in the light of perpetual dawn

a façade over the eyes of all who watch the sunrise

while behind that veil the night comes and goes

and days of soft sadness pass away

untouched by their hands, their eyes, their voices

speaking of things left behind, discarded

that never had a chance to see beyond the wall

Cheers (:
