Prepare the call of eastern sun

The fires are burning on the plains

the smoke intoxicating, wafting over us

turning the distance into grey haze and shadow

where soon we go to lose sight of ourselves

and become only voices in the darkness

whispering secrets of the world at our back

and of the stories ahead of us

across the unknown wilds

toward legend and ruin beneath a falling sky
