Walk with me into this wretched place
to sift through refuse left behind by careless gods
heaped upon the altars we built to them
and strewn over the halls of their cathedrals
The candles are still burning on the high walls
casting shadows among the waiting ghosts
who go out each day to meet the sunrise
and dissolve into it
All around are traces of the ancient ones
and far below us carvings in the bones of the world
speak of a way to call them back
So to the depths we must go
searching for those distant lost messages
in the eyes of sarcophagi in ransacked tombs
ready with chisels when we find the word walls
to tear them down and cast the dust further into insanity

Do you have a favorite genre to read? Is it the same or different from what you tend to write?

I read almost exclusively hard science fiction and modern poetry. But I write fantastical short stories, modern poetry, and erotic flash fiction. So… mostly no, I don’t read the same stuff as I write. I’d love to come up with the stuff these amazing writers do, but I’m just not that smart lol or learned, perhaps.

Interesting that strengths and tastes can vary so much! And I agree, there’s writers who are just on another plane, idk how they write what they do. I guess we just have to keep at it!
