Turn off the rushing waters out of solitude
Stifle the screams to an inscrutable sky
and feel the truth of chaos in the ebb and flow
the surge to infinity and pulling back
into a place awash in time
nothing new and everything beside
in a fever push against crushing night
the shadows of it just around the corner
Sever the cord
cut power to the main line
and leave it to live out final days, its birthright
against the flow of an endless river
a backdrop beyond night and day
the birthplace and graveyard of the soul
—
I wish more people across the Earth could see the stars at night rather than bright lights from down here.

So lovely David as always. “against the flow of an endless river
a backdrop beyond night and day
the birthplace and graveyard of the soul.” Your poetry always has many different meanings for me, that is one thing I appreciate so much about your work. Here in NC we have such a beautiful sky where we live full of stars. You are so right, the stars are so much lovelier than city lights. Hope you are staying healthy and blessed my friend, please take the best of care. Love Joni

Thank you Joni! That sounds beautiful. I hope to live somewhere like that some day. Hope you’re healthy as well, and hope we’re out of the woods soon.
