Things Fell Apart

We must be on the third or fourth coming by now

Maybe there was a scheduling error

Maybe the falconer should have snapped the falcon’s neck

just to see what would happen

if darkness on those flightless wings

rushed in to smother the world

It might be a blessing

but I think we ran out of those a long time ago

left alone to draw wisdom as water from desert sands

where buried beneath dunes reaching almost to the sky

a faceless beast lies dead

Part of me was worried it might seem pretentious to post this. Then I thought, to hell with it.

  1. Courage is doing it anyway, despite the doubts and the incessant negative internal dialogue.
I’m searching for more authenticity in my own writing. There are things I’m still afraid to share, mainly because I know some of who’s reading. But every day I feel like I move closer to “Fuck it!” and sharing it all despite my fears.
    Here’s to – Authenticity.

  2. I agree it is hard for me to share the intimate things I share because I feel people don’t want to know that such horrors can happen to children but they do every day. Good for you and your poem was very provocative as always Mitch. Great work. Love ❤️ Joni
