Let the Earth bury me here
beneath slow winds and shifting sand
dessicated by the sun-bleached remnants piled high—
monument to lords forgotten in the dunes
and yet another waiting to join them and waste away
When the rains return this dead garden will bloom
a deep breath before the long exhale
skies carrying away the last sigh
while deep, deep beneath this morphing façade
ancient blood runs hot through veins of fire

Got to see the Great Sand Dunes today. I guess you could say it left an impression on me.
