empires come and go
and nothing ever changes
it’s still fear that drives the engine
demanding blood to flow
fear so deep those afraid call it
power
from high towers
though Babel fell
Deus Vult their cry
the words fear-laden
call to mind memories of the desert
or is it a fate to come?
remembered horror
or
our newest crumbling empire
