Remember what you said to me when the sky fell
Screaming streaks of color that painted us invisible
A trail of it behind, revealing the way down
To the place you said we would meet
Curtains drawn and flashbulbs shattered—
I tried to follow, but my feet bled on the broken glass
The world bent to hold me, and I was crushed beneath it
Through suffocation I looked for you
Eyes darting to each face I passed, waiting, hoping
Calling out to the world with eyes of seawater
And a shadow where you once stood
An imprint of your tar-black soul
The words you said but never meant—
