Nobody Read the Script

The breaking point was passed long ago
Yet here we are pushing, surprised at the resistance
Mad as hell, yet still taking it and more.
All the world’s a stage with no story
The playwright is in the shadows
Making corrections to the script on opening night
Unsure if it should be a tragedy or a farce.
A symphony plays below without a score
And the critics in the audience are raving
Though I’m not sure there’s going to be a sequel.
This story has been told too many times
But maybe they’ll do something different with the television show
Like hire someone who knows how to write

  1. These words ring so true. It’s a constant struggle to write decent stuff when the television, for instance, seems to try to convince us that the audience want rubbish. I really liked it. Thank you also for reading my work.
