The sea came as a visitor in the night
and bore you away to a place I cannot reach
With the eyes you gave to me on the solstice
I see across the maelstrom waves
to the garden that fate planted for you
and you, shrouded in white
walking the cliffs in search of an offering
to cast away into the sea
As you wait for the fog to cover your island
shrouding the horizon with a vision of your dreams
I will build a lighthouse on this forgotten coast
to cut through the mist and show you the way back to me

It snowed all day without stopping here in Denver, and it’s supposed to keep going tomorrow–the best kind of day for staying inside with a cup of tea (or six) and writing.

I really like the little explanations you give at the end!!! Gives the reader a little view into the mystery ❤️

Glad you enjoy them! To be perfectly honest they’re sometimes harder to write than the poem itself…
