The Withering

So heavy is the burden of a constant rain

watching it splash in little puddles on the window sill

the droplets collecting just to overflow

for a moment a river flowing down tile walls

to pool again and lie stagnant

The choice is this or a sunny day

a mad rush of life to reach for the sky

before all the shallow roots have drained the earth

of what lifeblood fell from primordial heights

and the withering comes like a fire

burning through the valley of all who thirst

as softly over a distance they will never cross

the skies are weeping

I’m back! I didn’t realize until I got home how much of a benefit not being able to use the internet for a few days was for my mental health. I’m definitely going to be trying my best to cut down my usage to a minimum going forward. Hope everyone had a good weekend, I’ll do my best to catch up on the posts I missed, but I’ve started work now so that’s even less free time I’ll have in a day.

Cheers!
