That dream came alive in snowcapped peaks
flowing like a thousand whispered secrets
its laughter gently echoing off the slopes
down into the valley
Still it speaks in woodland tongues
descended from the mountains, ancestor of the sea
witness to the open sky above
that holds in weary arms the light of distant worlds
and all the voices it will never hear
Down beneath branches dancing in the breath of autumn
lay the quiet few who gaze into blackness
around and above but kept at bay
by the light they hold within

Got to go camping this weekend. A brief reprieve from the world. Now, back at it.

Mitch this is so lovely. The imagery is so intriguing, great writing my friend. I bet camping helped to inspire this beautiful piece.

This is beautiful. I’ve missed reading your work over the last couple of months!
Hope you had a wonderful time camping. Being out in nature really helps soothe the soul, calm the body and awaken the imagination.

Thanks so much! Glad you’re back (: I agree about being in nature—we all should get out there more often!
