Jimsonweed

Picture the coven gone to bathe in moonlight

lost on a path through the woods

where jimsonweed leads the wayward by the hand

The dead hang higher here

eyes to the west and the setting sun

watching eternity pass by, ageless

washed in the waters of unholy fountains

in preparation for communion with the crawling shadow

chained here and waiting for release

I know it’s been a long time since I made a post on the blog. I’ve been putting everything I’ve got into the book I’m writing. A few days ago I passed the 100,000 word mark, which makes this far and away the longest thing I’ve ever written. This poem is, in a way, a part of the story. Got to keep chipping away at it.
