Walk softly where she goes ahead
in search of deeper shadows
Whisper only of what cannot be known—
the sky above cries for lost days
and the forest grows close around the home of darkness
She walks among these trees
on paths unseen to ancient song
with many voices of wind and rain
spelling out curses in blood upon the wayward
who come so close to the waiting mouth
and cannot see into the darkness

I don’t know why the legend of the Bell Witch fascinates me so much. Would love to visit the cave some day.

Vivid poem! Where is the cave? I have never heard of the legend but it sounds so intriguing…

Sorry for taking so long to reply! The cave is somewhere in Tennessee. I haven’t been either, but I definitely want to go see it some time!

I love this poem. It flows so well and has somewhat of a dark, creepy vibe to it. I’ve never heard of the legend of the Bell Witch, but after reading this, I’m very intrigued!
