Falling stars give light to this city
commanding all who kneel beneath them
to taste ash and dust
in communion with forgotten gods
Then pile high the effigies and burn them
their death a signal to the wilds
breath of iron forged into this new machine
ready to wake from its slumber
and lay waste to lands once holy

Ever tried your hand at worldbuilding? How detailed did you get?

I love world buildings. Without a well-thought-out world, there are just characters in a mess of random scenes.

Sometimes, I get so lost in world building and backstory that I never get to the narrative I really want to tell. 😂

Definitely can be hard to balance them! I do love the feeling of writing a story told in a world that is well fleshed out though. Cheers (:

Very powerful post. It reminds me of getting rid of the old to make way for the new. 🙂

Well-thought out worlds are a reflection of what we could be if only we had the time of an author to sit and plan so diligently! I enjoy world-building; it is an investment of time well spent. ❤
