This noose we share around our necks
in dying light becomes a fuse
one end already burning
casting our shadows on the wall
to bend and morph and fly away
from this performance of our gallows dance
for a silent crowd who is just now realizing
that they, too, are shadowless

Wow! We just had a shooting in a mall here in Austin (like so many shootings everywhere else here in the US), and when I read this, the big picture becomes so clear.

Oh no, that’s horrible. Sadly it’s all too common these days. If only our leaders cared to do something to try and prevent more violence… Anyways, I hope you’re well.
