Temptation

A soft magic spell goes unnoticed

though the air it touches turns to gold

invisible in what we breathe

yet everything and its shadow

passing through our barely conscious souls

tempting us to reach for what we cannot see

and open every door to it

Only when it crawls on the walls around us

will we think to find our minds’ edge

and raise barricades against the truth

Three assignments left and I’ll have finished my second year of grad school. I just need to sit down and get them done.
