Sated

The worst of it came with the silence

a first look at sated hunger

fragmented lies already stirring

weaving a tattered tapestry

to be laid over this altar to the Demiurge

Then came flight and fear

walls closing in and breaking apart

becoming shards of a new dream

silhouettes of contrition

set against a waking nightmare

I keep finding myself drawn back to the album Deloused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta. I’ve listened to it all the way through probably more than fifteen times in the past couple of months. I’m not quite sure what about it has me hooked. Something about the way it goes from calm, melodic lines to explosions of sound and then back again… It’s definitely an album worth sitting down and really listening to from beginning to end.
