The Long Road

Blue fades to black and a sparkle of moonlight
Hold me close and tell me we made it
Breathe eternity and listen to the song of time
While home collects new dust that will never be cleared away.
Our road ended when it reached the stars
But our journey has not yet begun.
Now memory is a racing heartbeat
A shudder at the soft touch of night
Tracing contours yearning for more
While breaths shorten and hands tremble
Eyes half hidden under lids heavy with exhaustion
Together at the window of our world
When the sun rises, we will not feel its warmth
Far away on stranger tides we will float in a new light
Waving at the Gods as we pass into tomorrow
