Crossroads

We met at the crossroads
Beneath a different moon
Edges like water, the stars falling
A constant rain of glittering dust
Always beginning at the same place
Voices on the wind and a thousand farewells
Swept out to the horizon that burns red
Eyes see, hands feel, voices cry out in the dark
And the music continues unheard
A single touch is a grenade
Screaming through the night like fire
Here the water runs deep, as it always has
Scarred riverbeds like veins hidden
Bleeding out the life we lost
Into the dirt at the center of the crossroads
