Fabled One

For years I scaled the tower wall
daring for a chance to feel the iron summit
and when I reached the top I found you
lounging in starlight and commenting on the weather
The distance beneath us vanished
and the world was there, bounded by a drop into nothing
but it was you, fabled one
who shattered time and burned the pieces
then poured the ashes in with the foundation
of this monument to a timeless world
So atop it all you reign and weep
for the broken days interred beneath your throne
whispering a eulogy for your own lost soul
and I, on my knees beside you
cling desperately to your every word

I wonder who this person is…

      1. DO IT! 😉 🙂 My words are not empty flattery–you’re a fine poet…and as soon as this crazy novel challenge is over, I’ll be back to read you–with comments…assuming I survive November 🙂

      2. Thanks for asking, Mitchel…I post an update every evening (today’s is up now). It’s both thrilling and grueling, and if God were not my writing partner…I’d surely die 🙂 Take care of yourself–are you making plans for Thanksgiving??

  1. Intriguing imagery! And heart wrenching.
Your writing is beautiful, and after reading your comment about childhood books, I feel the same…the magic in those stories, never leaves, I think. And I still feel the same joy I did when i was little and wrote things.
