In the Still Madness

In the still madness of night I came awake

And listened to the whispers in the hall

Footsteps coming and going, laughter in the dark

Traces of the invisible all over this quiet house

Lights twinkled through the window from a world I knew was living

Stars melted into the rain and were carried here

To find me listening to a song of the witching hour

In another world I never knew from shadow

Something is there, but fear forbids me to go to it

Not a fear that I will find some quiet new insanity

But that I will discover those silent movements were always only light

Coming in from the world beyond the window

Cheers to new beginnings and familiar roads!
