I watched you speaking at the altar of lost time
your words concealed within the voice of the wind
attacking the walls we built against the night
and I hoped that they would crumble
I wanted the flood to come and take it all away
make an island of this burning land
you and me alone and the world gone away to drown
Together we could lead the prisoners in a riot
a rebellion of two against everything under the sun
we are become masters over the illusion of fate
and keepers of a shared vision of what is to come
trying our hardest to cast away the memories
and convince ourselves
that we haven’t just built the prison walls closer

Fear is circulating. The world is burning. Seems to me the only way out of this is to stick together and fight. If you’re here, thank you. Keep doing what you’re doing, keep your head above the surface, and don’t let anyone tell you it’s over until the fires are out.

“ I wanted the flood to come and take it all away
make an island of this burning land
you and me alone and the world gone away to drown”. These are descriptive phrases, one can almost smell the smoke. Beautifully done David and so true. Love 💕 Joni.
