When the sky fell it swallowed me
and spit me out into a rugged world
where the hills are painted the color of broken bones
and the valleys between them are bathed in midnight
There in the midst of desolation I found peace
cloaked in the stench of war
the rolling tide of empire
across a kingdom waiting for subjugation
Legions called to the stars for their blessing
victory given on the winds of dawn
and far from an answered prayer
locked in the stare of a thousand conquerors
the sky gazed back at them
and in silence that fell like rain without clouds
it blinked

Things are gonna get a whole lot worse before they get better… I wish we had a leader.

Great imagery. Makes me think of a fantasy or sci-fi novel. Sorry if that’s not the image you were going for.

So much of what I write is trying to escape into other worlds, so that’s exactly what I was going for (: thanks for the comment!

You’re welcome. It’s great to be able to escape into other worlds, especially since the real one is so horrible.
