What Else?

The lights up ahead grow near

but never seem to coalesce

beyond vague outlines over the highway

suddenly rising out of the darkness all around—

haven promised at the end of a long night’s drive

And there’s this feeling in the air when we get there

that we’ve arrived

in a place where few roads ever go

that we belong here, where even the faces are blurred

and it really wasn’t all just a trick of the light

and these voices around us melt together into one long-winded magic spell

that saps away our vision, turns it dark at the edges

because who needs to see clearly?

What else is there to look at but this?

Slowly starting to increase my time each day writing. Hard to believe I was ever getting 1,000+ words done a day. Gotta get back to that eventually!

  2. Very nice David. I get an unusual eerie feeling when reading this one, like do I want to know what is at the end of the road? Someplace we have all already experienced perhaps. Nicely done. Have a blessed evening David. Love 💕 Joni
