Just on the other side of this wall the shadows move
walking through stories I’ll never know
carried by sensations whose ghosts I see
and whose touch comes sometimes as light through windows
with the breeze drifting down the street
This wasteland where the living tread
on one track highways down to annihilation
all the same and all breathing tired
waiting for a chance to dream
only to wake just as a hand reaches out
to pull away the red shroud that covers their eyes
as roadways feel the final aching tremble
and become dust in shadows over all
this dominion slipping from hands that never held it
goes to fall away into the wastelands all around

I’m back in Denver and settling into the groove of this new semester. Pretty much everything I do for school is done on video calls now, which means almost my entire day is spent looking at a screen. Kinda sucks! But I know I’m lucky to even be able to do that.
I’m also finally able to get back to writing regularly, so apologies for the many missed days. Here’s to moving forward.

Mitch this is so beautifully written and I can’t pick a line I like better than another as they are all wonderfully crafted. I do love the way you summed it up at the end my friend. Nicely done. Have a relaxing evening in your home. Sending love 💕 Joni

Thanks Joni! I’m definitely catching some relaxing moments in between work for my classes. Relaxation is tough to find, but it’s there! Hope you’re well (:

Speaking from the other side – teaching online really sucks too. But I know I’m lucky too, to still be doing it given how many jobs are being shed in the sector.
Have a good semester!

Sucks that everyone is having to deal with the struggle. We’ll make it through though. Have a good semester as well, cheers (:
