Valhalla

Fallen on the field before the god of war

and ready to rise again with the morning sun

the flame burns brightest

in a heart that has known the ice fields

stretched white and blinding into the sun’s domain

A heart yearning for the hearthfire of Valhalla

and soon to taste that victory

as morning dawns over the spoils of war

Find us here amid the chaos

and stake your claim among the fallen

we wait here for the calling out of skies above

and listen for the signal of the fall

The fires of Helheim cannot touch us

as we call to the flame-red skies above

to rain down and burn away this world

until all that is left is the path we were meant to walk

stretching on deep into the shadows that we knew and lost

If you haven’t played Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, I highly recommend it. It’s not only a testament to the storytelling ability of the video game medium, but also to the storytelling ability of storytelling itself.
