She with the perfect eyes and pale moon gaze
came to me robed in promises
that fell to the floor as she leaned in close
to tell me of things she heard whispered by the rain
Her lips tasted like ashes
close again to becoming flame
and her hands pressed to my throat were like ice
I stood still and breathed her in
deep enough to forget the taste of air without smoke
longing for her dead flame to ignite
and anoint the edges of my soul with fire

Very nice Mitch. I like this one a lot. You have done something a bit different and I really think it is splendid.

Ice, ashes, and smoke, trying to rekindle the flame. Great visualization.
I’m into Victorian novels because I have been reading some history of that period. I’ve read about four so far, all have bored me after halfway through and I have given them 3/5 stars on Goodreads. Still looking for a gem. Any ideas.

Thank you!
I’ll be perfectly honest, I won’t be much help there. I’ve started Great Expectations, A Tale of Two Cities, and Wuthering Heights, but never finished any of them. Granted, I was probably too young to really appreciate them, so who knows what it would be like to read them today! Cheers (:
