I never wanted this for you
You were always meant to feel the rain
on skin bare to the raging storm
lost in the spaces between bolts of lightning
the center of a kaleidoscope world
slowly turning, slowly shattering
The hand of a goddess reaching down from heaven
to give you the moon in a jar
never to know what eyes in shadow see out
through landscapes of a scorched earth
along a path gone away into the moonless night
