smiles wide where light should be fading
all around the edges, morphing
whispers of the waiting sun
that they threaten to keep hidden away
long nights of veiled reality
painted scarlet and gold and burning
all around me the heatless flame I cannot escape
and the stars are laughing
wicked mirth their song in formless void
the million-eyed god staring down at me
ready with a message I cannot hear
over the music of the stars’ insanity
