Going South

Past the gate and out of dead lands

south to a promise of time and green fields

shadows walk where their sins are remembered

and eyes in the trees watch them

laying snares to take hold of the passing minds

with wraith calls and haunted visions

drawing them away to become new denizens

of this valley in the mountain’s shadow

Question for y’all. Do you tend to outline a story before you write it, or do you just start writing and see what happens?

  1. I love to just start writing and see what happens. Outlining stories in school was just torture for me! I just don’t understand how you could plan your writing without letting your imagination play!

  2. Typically, I just start writing when I have an idea pop into my head. Depending on how long I want the story to be I’ll write notes about where I would like the story to go. However, I find that for me it’s easier to just let the ideas flow and edit them later.

    • Keeping notes to track your thoughts seems moe manageable than trying to outline the entire story before it’s written! That’s one thing I’ve never been able to do. I always end up forgetting what I outlined and going in a completely different direction. Cheers (:
