Distractions

Dense night close in among the trees

silent breaths together lie still

fine mist low in the canopy

Heartbeats pulse like raindrops on trampled fields

where many have walked and will walk

hand in hand and listening distracted

by the soft rushing tide of a distant sea

Time to get back to work.
