Tallow

Hills against the wind press on into night

over the peaks and away to the last descent

the sands shifting like a sighing voice

a constant pleading for some refuge

safe harbor from storm wall waves

where the first ones came to pave the way

and went down into sunken depths

Do we follow?

Or do we hold our breath and wait

let the storm tear over us, through us

and gasp in the night when we finally resurface

and taste once more the tallow wax of starlight

  1. “Or do we hold our breath and wait
let the storm tear over us, through us
and gasp in the night when we finally resurface
and taste once more the tallow wax of starlight” David this is beautiful. “sands shifting like a sighing voice” I love the imagery. Perhaps being home will bring even more creativity to your writing. Love and safety my friend. Love Joni
