I was there when the shadows fell
lucid for a breath before tossed beneath the surface
and lost in technicolor visions of the stars
Night over breathing landscapes risen away
the edges whisper of dissolution
as ghosts crawl through fire toward the sea
Roots deep in the ashes already taken hold
only waiting for a drop of blood to fall
to bloom at the last hour
and wither in the light of dawn
This, the night that calls
strange whispers hidden in falling rain
there only for a moment
before I’m once more surfacing, gasping for air

Didn’t realize how much I missed the rain until I got back home.

Listen to ‘I Miss The Rain’ by The McKrells. They’re a local Irish/Folk band. I give ’em a thumbs up, your poem too.

You miss the rain? That makes one of us. Hopefully you never have to deal with the horrors I’ve dealt with over the last few years that started with rain water getting into my house.

“as ghosts crawl through fire toward the sea

It makes everything feel refreshed! And I just don’t let myself go to sleep until I’ve written a poem most nights (;
