Seething

Breathe with it all and everything comes alive

reaching up in worship to the sun and sky

and down into the circuitry

pulsing and connecting and guiding

There is a language here spoken in silence

cut through the skin and deep into flesh

the pain of living transformed into ecstasy

as sun falls on horizon’s sword

and bleeds across the sky

Everything here together drawing breath

filling lungs always desperate for more

awash in this seething unity

this crawling up and out and down into shadow

Seeds sprouting from forgotten graves

roots tasting first the sweet remnant of decay

as the serpent swallows its tail

and the world is born again

Honestly I’ve gotten so used to wearing a mask in public that I’ll probably continue to do it even after we don’t have to anymore.

  1. This is beautiful Mitch. We are easily drawn into the world of the poem.

“as sun falls on horizon’s sword
    and bleeds across the sky
    Everything here together drawing breath”

    “Seeds sprouting from forgotten graves
roots tasting first the sweet remnant of decay
as the serpent swallows its tail
and the world is born again”

Gorgeous use of metaphors and imagery with the above lines being my favorite. One gets a sense of desperation, the ending of what life has been and then we have those lovely last lines which brings rebirth.

    Beautiful Mitch. Sending love, Joni

    • Thank you Joni! I haven’t always been super convinced by the idea of rebirth, but in recent years it has begun to grow on me, and I think it has started to appear more in my writings because of that! Cheers, and the same to you (:

      • Well I am glad to hear it my friend. Due to my childhood I saw a couple of miracles when I was quite young. There was no other explanation but divine intervention. Sending love, hugs and safety your way. Joni
