Something about this place feels broken
the trees grow close together
to hide these shadows from the world
A drop of blood in an endless ocean
where time once stopped and watched
a face with empty eyes
and a knife to the throat of the world
hand on the pulse slowly fading
as the sky and the forest wept
The darkness untouched, the light of day far beyond
shadows growing always darker
as what was left behind is slowly devoured

Nicely written your writing always asking, seeking and a bit sorrowful like our world right now. Beautiful piece Mitch. Have a great weekend. Stay safe, Joni
