All this time our eyes looked ahead
catching glimpses among sunbeams
of dreams hidden and waiting for our arrival
Along the way we left a million pieces of our souls
trailing back through halls once warm and bright
now empty, suspended in time
and filled only by the ache of longing
At times on our road we might pause to rest
before hurrying on from the night that follows
and only when we finally stop to watch the sun set
will we see truth gleaming in its dying light—
that we are blind on roads to nowhere
spinning gold and letting the threads drift away

Have to apologize for being so bad at posting lately. Not really anything more than laziness. I have some catching up to do!

Wonderful piece! It reminds me of getting to a ripe age and realizing what you could’ve done differently. Hopefully, I’ll have very few regrets.
