The ropes of this bridge across nothing
one by one are snapping
and here at the center, halfway to nowhere
all I can do is wait for the fall to come
Looking around, I see I am one among many
row upon row of fraying bridges
all facing a figurehead on firm ground
who looks just about ready to save us from the chasm
any day now

“Just about ready” … yes, and getting more ready by the minute. I can feel the excitement building and I pray for a peaceful walk across that fraying bridge… and a safe arrival onto that “firm ground.” Thanks for your poetry. Inspiring!

Glad you enjoyed it! I only hope the crossing comes before the last rope has snapped.
