These grooves worn into the dirt
are tracks of a well known make-believe
so practiced now that the walls on either side
seem like distant horizons
and the gentle slope further down goes unnoticed
Light fading is only a gathering dusk
to be broken when the new day comes
and no doubt it will come
so walk further on this path
and dream of the light
that must surely be waiting at the end of it all

Really nice piece Mitch. I have missed reading everyone’s work. A piece of light at the end of the road. Very nicely done. I really liked these lines:

Oh you are sweet to ask it is much better. Steroid shots help a lot. I don’t like putting a whole bottle of that stuff in my body but my neurologist is great and it is much more tolerable.
