Dreams of rain in the sky above
caught by the sun in clouded cells
they wait to fall and join the river’s quest
Abandoned lines catch the day’s last light
hooks dug deep into the shallows
past which race the Chinook, heading home
trailing a tattered life behind
soon to end among familiar rocks
beside fish hooks cut loose and drifting

I tried for a long time to find a picture of the right type of salmon jumping, but I never did. It’s close enough, right? Still a great photo.

This is close to home for me, living in Alaska as I do. 💕 great poem and I always love when I get the opportunity to hear your voice with it.

There’s nothing like seeing the salmon runs full when it comes time for them to spawn. That’s one thing I miss about being in the Pacific Northwest. I’m sure in Alaska it’s even better! Thanks a lot (: cheers

Beautifully done ❤ Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could all be born magnificent artists so we would be able to create the pictures that are in our mind to go with the words that come from our hearts? Have a great weekend!

Thanks Angie! That would be incredible… sometimes the perfect picture just happens to be there waiting, but those moments are rare. And you as well! Cheers (:
