A blanket on the world, thick, oppressive
Stars digging their way through the sky
In an effort to reach the surface below
Our clothes stripped away and cast aside
Catch the wind and sail off to join the clouds
Leaving skin bare to the gentle wind
Wrapped in the atmosphere that moves like honey over us
Grass is a pillow beneath our backs
The Earth our bed, the sky our blanket
The planet’s heartbeat indistinguishable from our own
Wherever we were meant to go can wait for this moment to pass
If time moves on ahead I hope it forgets to come back for us
We will find our own way through the night
Even as clouds roll in to erase our story
We scribble the words on moonbeams and send them back beyond the sky
Moonbeams
