Her Voice a Roar

Salt air electric on my tongue, my eyes
The cliffs fell away and beneath me swelled
Tears of a goddess, weeping and vengeful
Her voice roaring in my ears, my thoughts
Collected by the passing of millenia
And spilled here upon the sand.
I tremble for the horizon set in rise and fall
Reach out and I just might make contact
Or fall to the swells and sweep away
To halls of a waiting master.
A breath exhaled, time slowed
And all before me converged on this moment
When the sun shone a strange new color
Witness to the crumbling edge of the world
Down slopes to the furnace, tread lightly
Mark the way for return or stay lost beneath the surface
Of a world grown suddenly immense.

Do you remember the first time you saw the ocean? I wish I could.
